From the publisher:
For the first time ever in English, a work by a renown, influential Italian artist Dino Battaglia! This individually numbered limited edition is a complete, 3-book collection contained in an elegant slipcase! The three stories follow Inspector Coke as he faces and tries to solve mysteries in the foggy streets of post-Victorian London.
Regarded in the same breath as his contemporaries, Hugo Pratt and Sergio Toppi, Dino Battaglia's impact on European comics cannot be overstated. Known for his tones of gray in which he weaved the mysterious, magical atmosphere of his comics, avoiding more commercial comic book series his whole life, Dino Battaglia stayed true to his vision.
This marks the first ever publication of any of Battaglia's works in the English language! For this introduction, I have chosen one of his last projects, and the third book of this trilogy (The Monster of the Thames) was actually the very last work of his life and was completed by the younger Italian master of chilling atmosphere himself, well known to fans of Dylan Dog series, and one of its artistic pillars, Corrado Roi.
The Inspector Coke stories follow a Scotland Yard inspector at the turn of the century, the early 20th century in foggy London, as he tries to solve three big mysteries. From the description of the attributes I have given to the art of Dino Battaglia you can imagine that in this setting, Mr. Battaglia is like a fish in water, so to speak, as he draws us in from the very first page and never lets go.
